The Local Area

  Although Portishead has become a sizeable town its Victorian High Street and village type community remain at its heart. This is reflected in the lights at Christmas that cover the main part of the High Street and the Victorian evening when large numbers of people young and old come to the high street to enjoy the festive atmosphere with stalls run by local charities including The Lions Club, Scouts, Air Cadets, Children’s Hospice South West and many others

  There are over 100 clubs and associations active in Portishead and we have the best schools in the area.

  The new face of Portishead, “The Marina”, has brought with it not only fresh development but also a wildlife sanctuary, many open spaces and a heated swimming pool and leisure centre.

  We have our park called “the lake grounds” with two bowling greens, cricket pitch, tennis courts, a soft play area for young children and an open air heated swimming pool overlooking the Severn estuary with large ships passing by to dock at Royal Portbury and Avonmouth Docks.

  All this lies only 10 miles from the centre of Bristol, 6 miles from the shopping mall at Cribbs Causeway with all their facilities and just 2.5 miles from the M5 giving easy access to the motorway network.
